Logistics for Energy

Consolidated freight, documentation and delivery to site. Applied to the constraints that define energy: generation, transmission and renewables equipment.

Energy overview

Overview

Logistics in the energy sector

Energy assets run long duty cycles with narrow maintenance windows, and the equipment beneath them has to be available for decades. Much of our energy work involves finding continuity for installed platforms, qualifying alternatives where the original is obsolete, and managing planned outage supply to a fixed date.

Equipment that is manufactured on time can still arrive late. We coordinate freight from supplier to site, consolidate shipments to reduce cost and handling, prepare export and customs documentation correctly the first time, and plan the last leg to site around access, lifting and receiving constraints.

Sector constraints

  • Obsolescence management

Qualified alternatives for discontinued components, with the differences documented up front.

  • Outage-driven schedules

Supply planned backwards from the outage date with float built in where lead times are volatile.

  • Efficiency compliance

Motor and drive selection aligned to current efficiency regulation rather than like-for-like replacement.

Capabilities

What we do for energy clients

All logistics
01

Freight coordination

Air, sea and road freight arranged against the delivery date rather than the cheapest default.

02

Shipment consolidation

Multiple supplier deliveries consolidated into single shipments with one document set.

03

Export documentation

Customs, origin and compliance documentation prepared correctly to avoid clearance delays.

04

Packing and preservation

Export packing, corrosion preservation and certified lifting arrangements where required.

05

Site delivery

Final delivery planned around site access, offloading capability and receiving hours.

Process

How the engagement runs

  1. 01

    Delivery requirement

Destination, deadline, access constraints and receiving process confirmed at the outset.

  2. 02

    Consolidation plan

Supplier deliveries grouped into shipments that balance cost against the required date.

  3. 03

    Documentation

Export, customs and compliance documentation prepared and checked before dispatch.

  4. 04

    In-transit tracking

Shipment status tracked and reported, with intervention where a leg is slipping.

  5. 05

    Delivery and proof

Goods delivered to site with proof of delivery and a reconciled packing list.

Second-source qualification removed a single-supplier dependency

Challenge
A critical machined component was available from a single supplier whose lead time had extended from six to eighteen weeks, with no contractual protection against further slippage.
Result
A qualified second source was in place within four months, lead time on the component returned to eight weeks, and the original supplier improved terms once dependency was removed.

Remote mine site supplied through consolidated quarterly shipments

Challenge
Component supply arrived in fragmented consignments with unpredictable customs clearance, and inland transport to site added weeks that were rarely planned for.
Result
Clearance delays fell substantially, freight cost per consignment reduced by 22%, and the site moved from reactive ordering to a planned replenishment cycle.

FAQ

Logistics for Energy — common questions

Obsolescence management: Qualified alternatives for discontinued components, with the differences documented up front. That shapes how the service is run, from the supplier set we go to through to the documentation delivered with the goods.

That is a large part of the work. We identify current-production equivalents, document the functional differences, and confirm mechanical and electrical compatibility before you commit.

Yes, including offshore installations, remote mine sites and vessels in port. Those journeys are planned as a whole rather than handed to a freight forwarder as an afterthought.
