Manufacturing for Manufacturing

Made-to-print components through a qualified manufacturing base. Applied to the constraints that define manufacturing: production equipment, spares and consolidated supply.

Manufacturing overview

Overview

Manufacturing in the manufacturing sector

Manufacturing procurement is a volume problem as much as a technical one: many low-value lines, several suppliers, and a maintenance team that needs parts on the shelf rather than on a purchase order. We consolidate that supply, standardise references across sites where it makes sense, and keep critical spares moving.

When a component is no longer available, was never a catalogue item, or needs to be adapted, manufacturing is the route. We place made-to-print work with a qualified base covering machining, fabrication, casting and assembly, and manage the quality plan so what arrives matches the drawing and the duty.

Sector constraints

  • Supplier fragmentation

Multiple component suppliers consolidated into a single sourcing channel and document set.

  • Critical spares availability

Agreed stock profiles for the components that stop the line when they fail.

  • Cross-site standardisation

Common references across plants, reducing variant count and simplifying stockholding.

Capabilities

What we do for manufacturing clients

All manufacturing
01

Made-to-print machining

CNC turning and milling to drawing, with material certification where required.

02

Fabrication and welding

Structural and pressure fabrication to recognised welding standards with qualified procedures.

03

Reverse engineering

Drawings produced from a physical sample where the original documentation no longer exists.

04

Assembly and testing

Sub-assembly build and function testing before dispatch, with test records supplied.

05

Quality planning

Inspection and test plans agreed before manufacture so acceptance criteria are not disputed afterwards.

Process

How the engagement runs

  1. 01

    Drawing or sample review

We review the drawing or sample and confirm what is manufacturable, and where tolerances drive cost unnecessarily.

  2. 02

    Manufacturing route

The right process and supplier are selected for the quantity, material and tolerance involved.

  3. 03

    Quality plan

Inspection and test points are agreed before cutting metal, including any third-party involvement.

  4. 04

    Manufacture

Production is monitored against the agreed milestones with progress reported.

  5. 05

    Inspection and release

Dimensional and material verification against the quality plan before release.

  6. 06

    Delivery

Goods delivered with the full certification and inspection record.

Bespoke hydraulic power unit built to an existing machine footprint

Challenge
A 30-year-old press power unit was failing repeatedly, but the available floor area and existing pipework interfaces ruled out any standard replacement unit.
Result
The replacement unit was installed during a scheduled weekend. Oil temperature stabilised 14 °C lower than the original installation and unplanned press stoppages attributed to hydraulics fell to zero over the following year.

Bearing supply consolidated across four manufacturing sites

Challenge
Four sites bought bearings independently from eleven suppliers. Reference duplication was widespread, stock was uneven between sites, and unplanned purchases at premium prices were routine.
Result
Active references reduced by 31%, critical spares availability improved to 96%, and total bearing spend fell by 18% year on year without any change in specification.

FAQ

Manufacturing for Manufacturing — common questions

Supplier fragmentation: Multiple component suppliers consolidated into a single sourcing channel and document set. That shapes how the service is run, from the supplier set we go to through to the documentation delivered with the goods.

Yes. We work from a common reference list across sites, which reduces variant count, simplifies stockholding and improves pricing through volume.

Yes. We produce a dimensioned drawing from the sample, confirm material by analysis where necessary, and get your approval on the drawing before manufacture begins.

From one-off replacement components through to production batches. The economics change with quantity, and we will tell you honestly when a catalogue alternative is the better commercial answer.
